Spectro-Chrome (Colored Light) Therapy
Just as with certain sounds, we know how the color of a room, or wearing a certain color makes us feel. Research has validated the importance of light and color in treating disease.
Color Therapy works on the same principle as sound therapy, using the best color frequency to induce change in the body on a physical, emotional and cellular level. Plants show us very quickly what can happen without light! Fortunately, we are more resilient than plants! Unfortunately, many of us are light deprived and are feeling the effects.
Color is a form of electromagnetic energy that makes up visible light. It is made up of different wavelengths and frequencies – each color having its own particular wavelength and frequency. Again, when we are healthy and balanced, the frequency of our body all the way down to the cellular level is vibrating and working together. However, ill health disturbs this frequency, causing disharmony throughout the person.
Just as with certain sounds, we know how the color of a room, or wearing a certain color makes us feel. Research has validated the importance of light and color in treating disease. For example, blue light therapy has been shown to lower blood pressure by calming the autonomic nervous system, while red light therapy causes it to rise.
The body absorbs color through the eyes, the skin and the electromagnetic field that surrounds the body. When light enters the eye, it is converted into electrical impulses by millions of light- and color-sensitive cells called photoreceptors. These electrical impulses travel along the optic nerve to the brain, where they trigger the hypothalamus gland to send neurotransmitters (chemical messengers) to regulate the autonomic (automatic) functions of the body. The hypothalamus affects both the pituitary and pineal glands in the brain, which also receive messages from cells all over the body about the color being absorbed through the skin. Absorbing colored light, directly on the skin activates the natural healing process, which increases or decreases the electron spin within the cells.
Just as with sound therapy, color therapy is very relaxing and will help you feel more calm and balanced.
